5 Can't Miss Places in Los Cabos
Los Cabos is a destination not everyone thinks of for a family vacation. But it is definitely one you should be considering! One of our favorite things about Los Cabos is the crazy contrasts from one area to the next. It truly is like visiting multiple destinations!
Located at the Baja California Peninsula's southernmost point is a breathtaking resort town that mixes the best of Mexican culture with remarkable seaside escapes. Just a quick plane ride from the US will land you in a tropical paradise surrounded by brilliant blue waters. From the beaches to the desert, Los Cabos seems to have it all. Below we've outlined the five can't-miss places to visit on your trip!
1. El Arco and Playa De Amor
At the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula is the Arch of Cabo San Lucas or El Arco, providing the most brilliant natural training venue for cliff diving. Playa De Amor is the north-facing beach on Land's End. The beach is flanked on both sides by the granite rocks from El Arco. Playa Del Amore is a cove that features serene waters, but a walk to the other side of the beach will bring you to the wild, rough surf of the Pacific Ocean.
2. Cabo Pulmo National Park
Home to one of only three coral reefs on the West coast of North America, Cabo Pulmo National Park is one of Baja California's most precious protected marine areas. The coral reef here is estimated to be about 20,000 years old, making it the oldest in the American Pacific.
3. Mission San José del Cabo Church
Does your family love history? The most historical landmark in the area is the Colonial-style parish church in San José. It was initially built near the beach and then subsequently relocated further inland. In 1735, five years after the founding of the mission's church, there was a revolt among the local Pericú culture, and the missionary, Nicolás Tamaral, was sacrificed. Today you can still visit the mission's church and see the tiled mural above the door illustrating the events.
4. San José del Cabo Art Walk
Explore the vibrant culture of Los Cabos with a day trip to the art district. Gallery openings, artists in attendance sessions and live performances, are just a few things you may experience. There are also plenty of wine bars and delicious farm-to-table restaurants lining the lively streets for a fun evening out on the town!
5. Los Cabos Marina and Whale Watching
Is your family into animals and adventure? The busy marina is the spot for thrill-seekers, foodies, and shoppers visiting Los Cabos. From the marina, you can leave on whale-watching tours, kayaking excursions, and luxury boat trips.
Oceanfront eateries serving ceviche and tacos sit beside lively bars on a spacious boardwalk. The high-end boutiques and casual stores are a great place to go to beat the heat!
